Tracy was discharged today despite the fact she was still in pretty extreme pain that made it very difficult for her to walk. We tried to see if we could “room in” which is sometimes able to happen if there are rooms available. It just means the hospital will let us use the room for another night free. Unfortunately there were more patients admitted and we could not do this. We were then referred to the Ronald McDonald house but learned that we lived too close (the minimum distance is 25 miles and they measured ours to be 22.9 miles). The thought of having to leave our babies is a pretty hard pill to swallow but we also understand they are in the best place they can be right now.
The big news of the day is that Kacey and Matthew were taken off their Cannula today and we were able to hold them without the lines attached anymore. They both seemed happy to finally have that thing off their face as Kacey pulled it off every chance she had.
Tomorrow we start finding our routine of diving our time between the home and hospital to try and normalize life at home somewhat for Caleb who despite our best efforts had clearly missed having mommy and daddy at home.
