Tracy and TeriAnn spent the morning with the babies as I went to church. After church I went to go check on and get some bonding time with the babies and when I got there, I was hit with the worst possible news. The nurse Patricia told me that she noticed congestion in Matthew’s nose yesterday and that it seemed to get worse overnight. I learned that both Matthew and Kacey had tested positive for the cold virus and would be placed in insolation units this this afternoon. Lucas was also tested but they were awaiting his test results prior to moving any of them. Patricia told me that Kacey had an Apnea yesterday afternoon around 2pm but nobody else has had one since.
We went to lunch and when we returned, we were told that all three and had been moved into isolation rooms in Bay 1 to prevent the spread of the virus to other babies. Since I heard the news I’ve been trying to wrap my head around how they could’ve gotten sick since it’s a controlled access, nearly germ free environment. The nurses and doctor had a couple of different theories but none that made sense to me. We went to visit the new rooms and I have to admit it was the closest to breaking down i’ve been at anytime during this journey. The rooms seemed so gloomy compared to where we were and having the babies separated just made it hard for Tracy and I to coordinate during our feeding rotation but we managed to get it figured out. As we go through the next five days (minimum isolation time), we will figure out the best way to get back into our routine.
We will be asking for thought and prayers for the protection and healing of these little babies.
